Where do you find your creative inspiration?
As a completely couture designer it is the individual bride herself that influences me the most. Everybody is so different, and it is refining and enhancing the female form that fascinates me the most.
What makes your brand unique and stand out compared to others in the wedding industry?
The fact that the dresses are completely couture, and the beauty of couture is that anything is possible. Dresses are made to a bride’s specific measurements, using traditional French couture techniques all done in our atelier in London. The end results are second to none and really do enhance the figure in a way that couldn’t otherwise be achieved.
My passion for fine detail shines through and we don’t compromise on quality – that makes us different. The dresses are not mass-produced, they are all lovingly hand made and are labours of love. We don’t supply any other shops, we only offer a bespoke service from our Chelsea Store.
Our renowned corsetry is so defining too. I have spent the last 20 years developing it to accentuate the figure so beautifully, and I am told time and time again that it is incomparable.
What trends do you predict for 2016?
Trends have never been a focus for me, because as I said I am more guided by the individual. Brides who come to us tend to come because they know we do traditional, what I call ‘proper’ wedding dresses exceptionally well, and by that I mean full-skirted, timeless frocks which stand the test of time.
It has been fascinating to see lots of celebrities who have got married this year, very much in the public eye (including a handful who wore PL dresses!), opting for full skirts, long sleeves and cathedral length veils, specifically wanted something more traditional and demure. I believe that this will undoubtedly affect what lots of brides consider for themselves next year.
I am sure lace will continue to be popular, but we also do lots of plain silk satin dresses. They are so simple and so classically beautiful.
If you could give your bride any piece of advice what would it be?
Relax and enjoy every moment of the build up, as well as of course the day itself, as it will all be over too quickly in the blink of an eye.
