The Quintessentially Weddings team had the pleasure of planning Sophie Dickens and Lyndon Lea’s wedding amongst the wild in the Serengeti.
The celebrations began with 140 guests transported by private charter to Killimanjaro where the couples close friends and family were transferred by hopper planes to the Serengeti. The Four Seasons Fleet of Safari vehicles were ready and waiting with hibiscus tea to refresh and rejuvenate everybody after their long journey.
Sophie and Lyndon along with their guests enjoyed two days of unlimited game drives, a cultural performance by Maasai warriors at sundown in the bush followed by cocktails and a mouth-watering ‘night-before’ dinner hosted by the Bride’s parents.
The ceremony was held under the skies of a brewing storm conducted by the bride’s uncle overlooking a waterhole with the thunder rolling in the horizon, adding a breath-taking atmosphere to this already unique setting.
The ceremony was followed by a champagne reception, tables were named after the animals of the Serengeti and each guest received a small wooden animal at their place setting painted in the golden hue which featured throughout the wedding design.
The evening reception continued into the small hours with Sophie and Lyndon’s romantic first dance to a performance of John Legends ‘All of Me’ by their good friend Mikky Ekko and later top London DJ Philly took to the decks.
Guests enjoyed the last day on a game drive, a last chance to soak up the Safari before a BBQ on the deck and unique final performance by Mikky Ekko and his band, a truly incredible end to such a beautiful wedding celebration.
